Dawn Harmer
San Francisco, CA
Dawn's art allows her to share a visual dialog that invites viewers to connect their own stories within the tones and lines on the canvas.
MessageDawn thrives in exploring new techniques and themes. Some projects are driven by personal stories with materials that help translate it onto paper, canvas and wood. Other projects are born through play - with paint, with color, and with tools. Always pursuing concepts that resonate with her on a personal level.
Sonder is her latest collection of human figures gathering in crowds.
It is defined by the feeling of realizing that every person has their very own story filled with rich details, thoughts and experiences. It's the recognition that each person you encounter is living a life just as detailed and meaningful as your own.
Dawn's background is in photography. After receiving an associate's degree in Photography at Toronto, Canada, she spent many years working in portrait and editorial photography.
Now her time is dedicated to her art practice, utilizing painting, mixed media and photography.

Statement
My latest collection revolves around a word, SONDER.
I've always loved creating stories about complete strangers that I see while waiting for the train or sitting on a park bench. Sometimes it's full of rich detail. Other times its just sill scenarious. It's my way of affirming each of us has a story. A journey. Hopes and dreams. Friends and lovers. Burdens and joys.
To Sonder
Interpreting and creating my own version of the world as I see it.
And its wondrous & beautiful".
