In my photographic series, I explore the human impact on our rivers. I took the photographs at my local rivulet in New Town, which starts out as fresh drinking water at the head of the track but becomes undrinkable seven kilometers downstream. Human intervention has changed its nature. I question what does this mean for the future of water.
In this series, I juxtapose images of the motion and wonder of water with images of human waste and decay. I question our impact on the environment. Do we notice the small, simple things like water beneath our very feet? Are we forgetting what is vital and important? What happens when water is not abundant or fresh to drink?
