Artist: John Templeton Lucas (1836-1880)
John Templeton Lucas was born in 1836. He was the son of John Lindsay Lucas, an English portrait painter, and Mrs. Milborough Morgan. Following his father’s footsteps, he became an artist and illustrator widely remembered for Prince Ubbely Bubble’s New Story Book, first published in 1871 and featuring himself as both writer and illustrator.
He died in 1880, aged 44. Son of an artist, the English painter John Templeton Lucas is mostly known for his portraits of popular figures of his native land, pictured in their natural habitat.
