Every other week I collect my grandchildren from school and take them home. We climb Wallin Mountain and drive down a long ridge that is home to a downtrodden farm. This old bulldozer is one of many interesting farm implements I see along that route. I am particularly struck by the graceful curve of the arm that guides the pushing mechanism, which itself has been modified to have a long reach, enabling it push trees down with great leverage. The graceful arm stands in juxtaposition to the crude and awful work of the dozer. I took liberty with the background of the painting, replacing dense brush with a stark red tree and a fence.
