Darlene Bigus-Doheny's current 1000 Portraits Project is an exploration of color's emotional expression of, and response to, a portrait's architecture.
MessageDarlene Bigus-Doheny finds her creative expression through process: traditional classical realism brings the seeds of quiet observation, sprouting with emotional response and connectivity, where the blossoming promises exciting opportunities and impressions of color, texture, mood via a single medium or by grafting multiple techniques and disciplines. With an award-winning background in printmaking & design, Darlene adores the freedom & color immediacy of pastel in juxtaposition to the architecture of portraiture.
Darlene’s work looks to explore expressions of time, place, culture and spirit through portraiture. It is an opportunity to honor life’s beauty and depth held within each of us by linking a recognition of the individual with an understanding of our human spirit and connectivity. Her works look to express – and to celebrate - the beauty held within.
Canadian born, Darlene found her spiritual home residing near the banks of the Mississippi River in the Lower 9th Ward, New Orleans.
