Daniel Ambrose
The extraordinary, luminous paintings of Daniel Ambrose reside in exceptional art collections worldwide.
MessageBorn in Florida, Daniel Ambrose grew up in an idyllic seaside town on the Atlantic coast in the 1960s. He occupied his imaginative childhood, roaming windswept dunes, winding estuaries and marsh hammocks. Raised Catholic, Ambrose found the creative presence of the Divine in tidal waters and wild lands in lieu of Latin Mass. On sun-washed shores, he discovered holiness and his life’s purpose.
In nature, Ambrose saw infinite patterns of ineffable wonder and beauty. Lacking words to convey transcendent feelings, he began bringing sketchbook and paint box, accompanied by his dog T.J. into the woods. This developed into a lifelong passion to celebrate the natural world through his art.
Ambrose’s paintings are notable for their extraordinary luminosity and serenity. A master of the rare 15th-century Renaissance technique of egg-tempera painting, the artist is equally proficient in oil and drybrush watercolor. Daniel’s soulful paintings emanate an understated, ethereal beauty seldom found in contemporary art.
Throughout his career, the artist has garnered awards and participated in numerous successful solo gallery shows and museum exhibitions. Ambrose’s paintings reside in many important private and public collections, including Advent Health, Bank of America, the City of Orlando, and the Museum of Arts and Sciences. Media that has featured his art includes American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, FOX 13 Morning News, Outdoor Painter, Charleston Style and Design, Art Impressions Magazine Canada and various press articles and books.
Ambrose is a Co-Founder of the American Tonalist Society and a Signature Member of The American Society of Marine Artists. He paints in his studio near the sea accompanied by his cat Remey, and he summers in Maine with artist friends.
Ambrose is represented by Hughes Gallery (Boca Grande, FL), Lily Pad Gallery (Watch Hill, RI), Cheryl Newby Gallery (Pawleys Island, SC), Palm Avenue Fine Art (Sarasota, FL), and Crossnore Fine Arts Gallery (Crossnore, NC).
