I create Lumieres of studio-made LEDs, steel, and repurposed glass of familial significance to explore the surprise of “home” beyond location, or time.
I discovered recently that I have been making my life in the same neighborhoods as two relatives who left Kentucky in 1888 as young women in pursuit of solo life in Chicago. This new discovery about my family's past prompts me to explore how my travels are tied to instincts of home.
My work features slag glass from my family’s area of Kentucky, illuminated domestic glass, and local materials with personal histories.
