"The Gift" conjures up a narrative allowing the viewer to engage in their own personal dialog as to its meaning. Was the gift the beautiful blue robe, the ring or even perhaps the gift of a lover returning? The directional flow of light leads the viewer into the painting while the glow of light on the figure , the patterns on the fabric and most importantly, the expression on the woman's face causes one to linger and question what she may be thinking. Only a small portion of the Klimt painting, "The Kiss", is visible in the background so as not to distract but rather be an added element to explore.
