The artwork is a dynamic sculpture combining the lattice cytoskeleton of a Prickly Pear Cactus, with textured, translucent elements with natural wood. The cactus paddles have been painted, coated in a clear epoxy resin, and gold lear applied to the edges of the leaves. Several elongated, flame-like forms extend upward and outward from a twisted, organic wooden base. These translucent forms have a gradient of warm colors ranging from deep red at the tips to golden yellow toward the base, creating an effect reminiscent of fire or seaweed. Interspersed among these forms are several bright glass flowers, adding focal points of vivid color. The sculpture is mounted on a simple square base, which contrasts with the intricate and vibrant structure above, emphasizing the natural beauty and energetic movement within the piece.
