Statement
Curtis Dickman MD, a celebrated local artist and retired neurosurgeon, showcases his innovative, vibrant, and emotionally rich body of artwork during his year-long solo exhibition at Paradise Valley Town Hall (October 14, 2025 through September 2026). He is honored to be awarded the Official Artist in Residence for the Town of Paradise Valley, via a juried selection process.
The exhibition features a diverse collection that reflects his multidimensional artistry, including opticokinetic illusions, reverse-perspective sculptures, vivid collages, mixed media pieces, and paintings inspired by emotion, perception, pop culture, music, technology and science.
Dr. Dickman specialized in spinal neurosurgery and was world-renowned for his surgical skills, inventions, innovative technical contributions, research, and academic excellence.
His second act as an artist has been acclaimed for its technical brilliance and personal resonance. Many of his pieces are constructed to transform depending on the viewer’s visual position, engaging the eyes, brain, emotions, and intellect. His artwork creates an immersive, interactive art experience. Through his art, Curtis aims to engage, inspire, and transform the way people experience visual reality, offering a unique blend of emotional depth and perceptual innovation that captivates the mind, heart, and senses. He has been represented by multiple art galleries and is dedicated to philanthropy. He actively helps charities raise funds through sales of his donated artwork.
