Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, David Fontaine Radden was fascinated by art, and loved to draw. He was generously supported early on by his father who offered him approaches on drawing various things. Additionally, David's grandfather was a German immigrant who learned painting and decorating in the "Old Country" passing on techniques like faux wood graining and marble which he taught David in his teens. David's grandfather taught varying the thickness of a stroke to add depth and other tricks with the pencil he has used in his work.
David won his first "Best in Show "award at 15 with a pencil drawing. In his early 20's he took up painting, influenced by books of the movements and artists that "changed the way people viewed art". Cubism was a strong influence. As a bit of an "outsider" artist, not joining any local groups or associations, he soon began to do solo exhibits and placements in Lexington and Louisville. KY.
Moving to Florida in 1993 with his wife Denise, he left his sizable clientele behind and began again, occasionally placing and selling art in the New Port Richey area, and eventually joining the Gateway Gallery in 2017. Later he joined the Tarpon Art Guild in Tarpon Springs, FL where he maintains active membership as a Guild member since 2018.
