Painted while listening to “The Sidewinder” by Lee Morgan.
Lee Morgan’s Sidewinder does not politely enter the room. It slips in sideways, catches you off guard, and suddenly you are inside the groove.
I painted this quickly, trying not to overthink it. That is what I like about working on paper: there is no ceremony. It is just the music, the paint, and the immediate reaction.
The piece is small, but the tune is not. The energy had to go somewhere.
