They are staring off to the right of the camera. The child on the bench in the background is sitting with their leg crossing their knee and their arms crossed. The bench in the back is attached to a wall that has the quote "Only Democracy is Susceptible of Absolute Liberty." written on it.
Edward R. Miller, born in Kansas 14 Aug 1919, died 12 Mar 1999. Most commonly used Gelatin Silver Prints. His work is found at the Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago,
