Artist Statement:
Concealed cell phone towers were first created to disguise the visual pollution of an unsightly yet essential technology of the modern world. Today our landscapes are sown with a quirky mosaic of masquerading palms, evergreens, flagpoles, crosses, and cacti. I document the variety of tower designs and explore the question – how much of an ersatz landscape and manufactured nature are we willing to accept in exchange for quality cell service?
