Statement
Watching my mother endure cancer has given me an ambivalent relationship with the medication that helps her live but simultaneously harms her body. In my art practice, I embrace a reductive process, removing sections associated with cancer while also acknowledging the destructive nature of this struggle.
My mother's experience abundantly influences my artistic practice. The only way for her to combat cancer cells is through harsh medication that, while shrinking the tumors, also damages her organs. This reality has significantly shaped my exploration of aging, deterioration, and decay processes.
My work occupies a complex space of tension between destruction and the intention of decay.Just like the cancer cells and the treatment do to the body. The concept of destruction enriches my inquiries, inviting a redefinition of bodily presence and perception.
