I often make three to four small paintings as a warm up before I start to paint on my larger canvas.

The lack of tension for any result often yields a successful composition. Sail began as an expressionistic experiment with blue, white & gold. You will see tremendous movement perhaps a subconscious representation of wind and a static gold sail shape in the left hand corner, thus the title.
