MessageArtist Statement or something like that...….
A Passionate, Progressive Abstract Pastel and Mixed Media Artist.
I am a Master Circle Recipient with the International Association of Pastel Societies, a signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and an Associate Artist / Ambassador with Unison Colour.
My platform, my passion and my obsession is art. Art is a part of who I am and a necessity in my life, it is how I express myself. I work in both pastels and acrylics / mixed media. I love using new tools and trying new techniques in the creation of my art and I am continuously working to evolve my craft, push the boundaries of traditional pastels and mixed media, it is a continuous process of learning. Inspiration comes from memories such as places traveled or from what is currently happening around me and, in the world at large. Part of my abstraction obsession involves creating unique collage elements from vintage papers, recycled papers (junk mail) or out of circulation engineering books that I will use as a tool in the creation of both pastels and mixed media art. My art is about being in the moment and projecting that energy onto the paper. I often title my works with references to our environment, no political agenda, the intent is to start a conversation, raise awareness to what is happening around us and maybe create a spark for change in the way we think or behave no matter how big or small that change may be we can all make a change for the better. I am forever hopeful and grateful in life no matter what gets tossed to us over the fence.
Biography /Resume
Cory Goulet is an award-winning artist, born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As of 2020 Cory is a member of the Unison Colour Team, Associate Artist / Ambassador.
Creativity or the act of being creative has always been a part of her life. The real desire to art began after a wonderful three-week international artist excursion to Italy, since then there has been no going back.
Over the years her style has evolved, her recent work in acrylic and pastel is predominantly abstract non-objective / experimental. When beginning a new painting in this style, she may have intent but not a predetermined agenda as to how the painting will exactly end up as it is an evolution of techniques, layering of color, emotions and feelings and what’s going on in that day or events across the globe. Cory prefers working on a larger surface as it allows her full movement of her body as she is laying down strokes or marks on that palette. She loves using vibrant colors, varying layering techniques, and trying different color combinations to get that nice surprise, as every painting should have a nice surprise she says. In Cory’s opinion, what this means to her is that she was transported, time stood still, nothing else mattered and she was utterly lost in the conception of art.
Cory’s work has been displayed in national galleries, museums and featured in multiple art magazines.
It has been Cory’s pleasure to have worked with many amazing teachers / artists over the years and their continuous support and education has helped develop her style. The plus, she can now call them friends. Those teachings have enabled her to develop different techniques, resulting in fun paintings with depth, unique surfaces, movement, and exciting colors.
Cory invites you to view her work, sit back and enjoy the journey into abstraction.

Judge Robert Carsten's comments: “Its So Raw” An energetic, expressive composition that uses the elements of design to create an amazing sense of movement. I admire the artist’s spontaneity of mark-making and bold, yet organized use of color. The dark form in the upper left plays a crucial role, contrasting against the light value below as does the distribution of the light blue color.
