Corrine Moore was born and raised in Austin, Texas. Her work spans abstract and expressive semi-representational painting. Her work is characterized by vibrant color palettes, expressive mark-making, and layered textures. She pairs these bold, edgy compositions with hand-painted frames in a distinct European style, treating the frame as an extension of the artwork itself. With a degree in interior design and art, Corrine worked for several years as a commercial designer. She continues to develop her art practice through intuitive experimentation and a deep engagement with contemporary abstraction.
Statement
I create abstract, textured paintings that merge aged, old-world surfaces with contemporary sensibility. By layering patinated finishes with modern composition, my work explores the tension between past and present as a metaphor for the modern woman’s experience. Inspired by travels throughout Europe, I am drawn to surfaces marked by time—imperfect yet enduring. Through layering and disruption, I reflect the negotiation between aging, societal expectations, prescribed roles, and the pursuit of control, independence and self-definition. My work celebrates resilience, freedom, and the evolving nature of success, inviting reflection on identity and the strength found in embracing imperfection.
