Ankhlave Arts Alliance on Governor's Island presents a 2 person exhibition of artists in residence Xiong Wei and Coralina Rodriguez Meyer. Presenting figurative sculptures and installation with natural growth elements emerging from wounds, the works merge landscape and figurative elements as a relief from man made geographic and climate conflicts. Created from construction materials and upcycled, environmental debris, life size bodies and photographs installed within the Federalist style homes on Governor's Island offer a respite within a living room on a tranquil urban island. The works are a macabre acknowledgement of burdens overcome, with the rewarding labor of growth still ahead. Curated by Ankhlave Arts Alliance founder Dario Moore, the exhibition is on view July 1 - August 17 2024 on Governor's Island.
