Sculptor Robert Strini has worked in bronze, wood, ceramic, and mixed materials for over 40 years. Strini became involved in ceramics while enrolled at San Jose State University, later receiving an MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1971, he won the Rome Prize Fellowship in Sculpture, leading him to work in Rome, Italy for several years. Upon returning to the United States, he settled in Virginia and taught for a time at the Corcoran Museum School in Washington D.C. Strini has been invited to teach workshops across the United States, including at the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston University, Pilchuck School of Art, the International Sculpture Center in San Antonio, and at International Sculpture Conferences throughout the states, in addition to a seminar at the prestigious Bild-Wek in Bavaria, Germany. His work is represented in a number of national collections, including those of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the Oakland Museum of Art, the Tacoma Museum of Art, and the University of Virginia Art Museum. Based in Scottsville, VA, Strini specializes in commissions and engaging the creative dialogue.
