Semi-abstract, intuitive, imaginary landscape paintings, sometimes mixed with my own photography or found objects. Inspiration is the countryside around my little farm, forests and travels, dreamscapes conjured up when reading a good book, as well as my interest in animals, gardening and weaving.
I work mainly with acrylics on canvas, panels (sometimes repurposed including old frames), and handmade paper. Often beginning with a textured ground using various materials, then many layers of transparent paint and a multitude of tools to let the entire history of the painting show through and to achieve deep, glowing colours. I like to use all the colours, strong and bold, but work in batches of more limited palettes reflecting the seasons, a theme, or simply my daily mood.
