Evocative semi abstract paintings and monoprints inspired by land and sea.
MessageMy abstract paintings and hand pulled prints are inspired by my love of familiar landscapes. I grew up in a rural village in the North Yorkshire Moors and am still captivated by the ever-changing mood of the moors; its prehistoric standing stones, vibrant heathers and peat stained copper streams. I often travel to West Cornwall to paint and draw its craggy outcrops and hidden harbours. I take my sketchbook and camera with me wherever I go capturing fractured and fossilised rocks, cerulean seas, rusty facades and smoothly eroded quaysides.
I enjoy the freedom of developing my paintings through intuition, never really knowing what I will create until it is finished. I slowly build up compositions, textures and layers and often incorporate collage, wax and gold leaf into my work.
