Statement
Photography for me is a way of seeing, exploring and connecting with the world. Like many of us I use my camera to record the things I am attracted to and want to remember. I began to reassemble these images almost like reconstructing a memory of the places I had visited and fell in love with the process. I am an artist who creates digital photomontages, which I exhibit and sell in the form of limited edition fine art prints.
My belief is that ‘play’ is at the heart of creativity and I play with the photographs I have taken, editing, layering, juxtaposing and combining photographs to create new scenes and new narratives. A love of colour, surface, and structure inherited from my background in textile design combine to create poetic images. which maintain a sense of the places that inspired them, but also leave space for the imagination.
I work on several photomontages at once allowing each of them to develop in their own way. There is no end-point in mind. Each piece is on it’s own journey and ends at the point where I feel that all elements within it are resolved. The joyful part of the process for me is discovering what the final image will be.
