The Makers Monument is the first percent for art project completed in the City of Columbus. It is a large crystalline structure comprised of thousands of Columbus made objects, many of which were made in the Short North neighborhoods or manufacturers along High Street. Twenty-five crystal shapes extend from 2' to 19' in height. Each crystal is cut into a lace-like pattern comprised of 'maker objects.' The shapes were water jet cut into the stainless steel. There are 50 maker objects in total that are cut in random patterns in the crystals. The crystals are concentrated into a solid mass at the base of the sculpture before separating into individual crystals with heights ranging from two feet to eighteen feet in height. The tops of the crystal shapes are dimensional, similar to the top of an obelisk. A plaque is installed on the north side of the sculpture with artist information, explanation of the artwork and a diagram showing each of the 50 maker objects that have been cut into the stainless steel. There are six LED can lights set into the landscape -- three to the north and three to the south that provide up lighting to the sculpture.
