The sculptures were created by artist Lawrence Argent, a Denver based nationally regarded artist whose works range from the intimate to the monumental. While visiting Columbus, Argent found that the concept of community consistently emerged, and the installation centers on that theme.
Two large polished steel sculptures with lips that face each other on an east west orientation. Each "head" is placed on the top of fogged stainless steal clad supports that are erected in the raised planter beds in the grass medians on either side of Neil Avenue. The grass medians are part of North Bank Park. The back side of each of the polished steel sculptures are concave with ripples extending outward in a cone shape, tilted slightly toward the ground to allow water to drain. The sculpture supports were originally clad in stripes of granite and marble stone. The supports curve gently toward Neil Avenue. The stone installation was faulty with gravity causing the stone at the curves portions of the supports to slip and push adjacent stones out of alignment. After numerous attempts to secure the stone failed the stone was removed by the artist and replaced withthe fogged stainless steel cladding.
