This soaring eagle atop an American shield emblem once adorned the Battleship USS Ohio, which served from 1904 until 1922.
On PL and PR scroll is extended outward. Fish are visible at both lower PL and PR sides of the flag shield. The Battleship U.S.S. Ohio was laid down 4/22/1899; launched 5/1/1904; commissoned 10/4/1904; and decommissioned 5/13/1922. The Shield has been on loan to the State of Ohio since 1923, when it was removed from the bow of the U.S.S. Ohio.
