WA artist Indra Geidans has long been interested in the relationship between clothing and the construction of identity.

Hovering on the fringe of magic realism, realist in her approach to making and style, the artwork simultaneously possess an enigmatic, sometimes surreal quality. Confronting reality in an effort to untangle it, each painting casts more questions than answers.

Presenting a crop of a larger image, moments of unbalance and silence are created. The notion of cloth as skin and vice versa throws up an intriguing and subtle dialogue between attire, clothes and social constraints in fashion and behavior.

Each image invites the viewer to breach the often-uncomfortable space between voyeurism and contemplation.
