Mel Dare has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and overseas and is the recipient of several art awards. Her work is represented in major public and private collections including St John of God, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Old Swan Brewery.
Through creating one painting each day for 100 days her visual monologue is a reflection of a series of moments in her life.
“As part of this process I recognized some moments stood out. Most were discarded and pushed aside. They were forgotten before reaching consciousness. A few lingered, gathered and consolidated to become my daily subject,” she said.
“Through this project I have become aware of how emotions dictate what is important in my life. I have learnt how pivotal those emotions are in making an experience significant and memorable.
“Describing this 100 days of my life has been enjoyable, interesting, frustrating and at times very hard work. Depending on the day,” she said.
These tiny artworks were part of the 100 Days to Create a Narrative exhibition held at Spectrum Project Space, Edith Cowan University, in 2015.
