Cindy Pease Roe is a contemporary artist based in New York, renowned for her innovative sculptures created from plastic marine debris. She founded UpSculpt, a nonprofit organization empowering action against ocean plastic pollution through art, science, and education. Cindy’s work includes two prominent public sculpture commissions at National Seashores, realized with the support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Her celebrated “Medusa” sculpture, currently on display at The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor, invites audiences to reflect on their role in protecting our planet. Inspired by a deep respect for the natural world and the reverence for land in Indigenous traditions, Roe’s art and advocacy resonate on a global scale. She has collaborated with partners such as the U.S. National Park Service, U.S. State Department, Schmidt Ocean Institute, and 1 Hotel, and her work is held in collections worldwide
