Strata

Strata - inspired by the strata of the earth viewed on mountain sides and valleys, I invite viewers to contemplate the intricate dance between creation and destruction, growth and decay, as well as the cyclical nature of existence.  despite external pressures and upheavals, there's an inherent beauty and potential for renewal.

Life Tapestries

I love spending time in nature, traveling, and learning about other cultures.  Always aware of color, pattern, and texture, these life experiences are inspiration for my work. The inherent warmth and luminosity of encaustic, combined with the tactile effect achieved with my signature drop method of applying the paint, combine to engage those who encounter it. Each piece becomes a testament to the interplay of color, echoing the vibrant palette of a sunset, the nuanced tones of a rain storm, or the rich hues of a bustling market—a celebration of nature's palette and the indelible imprints left by my travels.

Abstract Earth

Moving beyond literal representation, my Abstract Earth pieces delve into the aerial perspective without tethering itself to the natural landscape. Here, the artwork transforms into a combination of colors, shapes, and textures, transcending the boundaries of the familiar and inviting viewers into a realm where abstraction reigns supreme

Earth Abstracted

On a flight with my son, a pilot, I found myself captivated by the dual nature of the world when viewed from above – simultaneously familiar and abstract.  This led me to explore and discover the abstractness of the earth from an aerial perspective.  The 'View from Above'.

The 'Salt Flats' pieces were inspired by the vibrant hues and captivating textures of the salt flats.   I create the polished, translucent, areas of the colorful evaporation pools juxtaposed with areas where I employed my signature ‘drop’ technique to build an abstracted interpretation of the textural areas of the roads and accumulated salt.

Salt Flats

I flew with my son, a pilot, and was intrigued with how the world, when viewed from above, was at the same time familiar and abstract.   This led me to explore and discover the abstractness of the earth from an aerial perspective.

The Salt Flats pieces were inspired by the vibrant hues and captivating textures of the salt flats.   I create the polished, translucent, areas of the colorful evaporation pools juxtaposed with areas where I employed my signature ‘drop’ technique to build an abstracted interpretation of the textural areas of the roads and accumulated salt.

Life Signs

In the Life Signs series, I reinterpret familiar symbols we encounter every day—those quiet instructions we rarely question, hieroglyphs that go by unnoticed as we move through the world.  Each piece explores the dual meaning embedded in these icons.  Rendered with my signature method of meticulously placed droplets of encaustic paint against  smooth backgrounds, their textured surfaces create a tactile tension.  My hope is that viewers will leave seeing them not just as commands, but as quiet cues to reflect, reframe, or simply notice the humor embedded in everyday signals.

Carried by the Breeze

The Carried by the Breeze collection celebrates the beauty found in nature and the autumn season, where each leaf tells a unique story of life and change. Through a combination of textures and rich colors, each piece captures the fleeting beauty of the natural world, carried on the breeze of time."

Awakening Light

The Awakening Light collection began in quiet yet powerful early morning moments, as I witness the sunrises from my bedroom window and continued to include sunrises and sets from my travels. Each offering a unique composition—a delicate dance between color and shadow, warmth and coolness, light and dark. I am captivated by the way these moments never repeat, yet always feel familiar. Through these works, I invite the viewer to pause and appreciate the quiet wonder of the everyday.
