Chicago artist who uses Encaustic Medium (Beeswax, Damar Resin & Pigment) to create work with a tactile quality that engages those who encounter it.
MessageMy son, a pilot, took me for a ride in a small private air plane. I found the view from the air so interesting. Familiar but at the same time abstract. It inspired me to begin my ‘View from Above’ series. I use encaustic medium (a combination of beeswax, resin and pigment) applied in a molten state to create smooth, polished, sections of color, then add my signature drop technique to provide interesting textural areas. In this piece, colors were chosen organically from the images in my memory of a trip to Arizona; it’s deserts and dry riverbeds.
