Christine Troyer became interested in painting during her mid twenties. For a short time, she did rosemaling and decorative painting before starting a career as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service. She was surrounded a good portion of the day by outdoor light, seasonal changes and nature's beauty. Wanting to express what she was experiencing, she began a journey of learning. She chose soft pastel as her medium. It had vibrancy and zest. It would patiently wait for her to make friends when time allowed.
She has studied with many nationally known artists through work shops. Learning to acquire the core fundamentals, keeps her on an endless journey. It has given her the confidence to experiment with other mediums. She is interested in oil.
Statement
Art has given me a way to express my love and fascination of nature. I strive to convey the joy I receive from the changes of the seasons, time of day and most of all the different qualities of light.
My goal is to convey my love of life, nature, light and place. If I come even close, I feel I have accomplished something of merit.
