Breaking Ice
Acrylic on canvas, 40 x 30 in
Winter feels permanent when you are inside it.
From beneath the frozen surface, light begins as fracture — thin lines, hairline shifts. Not violent. Not loud. Just pressure changing.
The thaw does not attack the ice.
It outlasts it.
Warmth gathers.
Cracks widen.
Light filters through.
What once seemed solid reveals itself as temporary.
Spring was always on its way.
