Artist exploring the spaces where psychology, symbolism, and creativity meet, revealing hidden stories through watercolor and reflection.
MessageChristina Ball is a Colorado-based watercolor artist whose work explores themes of transformation, symbolism, self-discovery, and the human experience. Drawing inspiration from nature, psychology, and personal reflection, her paintings invite viewers to look beyond first impressions and engage with the layers of meaning that emerge beneath the surface.
Working intuitively with watercolor, Ball creates compositions that balance abstraction and recognizable form, allowing images to reveal themselves through the creative process. Recurring symbols, particularly within her series The Decoding, serve as visual metaphors for growth, discernment, resilience, and the unfolding of authentic identity.
Through her work, Ball seeks to create moments of reflection, curiosity, and connection, offering viewers an opportunity to explore their own experiences through the language of color, symbolism, and imagination.
Statement
My work explores the hidden narratives that shape our lives, the stories we inherit, the meanings we assign, and the truths we uncover through experience. Working primarily in watercolor, I embrace a process of discovery, allowing forms, symbols, and relationships to emerge organically through layers of color, movement, and intuition.
Nature, psychology, and the complexity of human relationships serve as continual sources of inspiration. Rather than beginning with fixed conclusions, I approach each painting as a conversation between the conscious and unconscious, revealing images and insights that often become clear only through the act of creation itself.
Many of my works belong to The Decoding series, an ongoing exploration of symbolism, transformation, discernment, and self-discovery. Within these paintings, recognizable forms emerge from abstraction, inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and engage with the process of interpretation. The work is less concerned with providing answers than with creating space for reflection, curiosity, and personal meaning.
Through watercolor's fluid and unpredictable nature, I seek to capture the delicate balance between what is seen and unseen, known and unknown, inviting viewers to discover their own stories within the layers.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
My work explores the layers of meaning hidden within personal experience, relationships, and the natural world. Through watercolor and symbolic imagery, I invite viewers to slow down, look more closely, and discover what emerges beneath the surface.
