"Very Special Obligation to Play" is a sculpture created for VSOP's final show in their Greenport gallery, "Moving Forward in Reverse." The form was originally commissioned as a fountain for an exhibition at New England Botanic Gardens in 2023. The piece has been modified with new colors, patterns, a gold-leafed sprout and a painted wooden base. The title, "Very Special Obligation to Play," is a nod to VSOP Projects' first exhibition in 2017, "Very Special One-Time Performance." It is a reminder to activate and wield the gift of Play in our daily lives.
