I discovered my love for painting to be a healing balm to my spirit during some very difficult life situations. The loss of my mother and the loss of my singing voice due to some throat issues greatly impacted me. Singing had been my healing outlet, but that was no longer an option. I decided to explore painting as a healing therapy. I fell in absolute love with it. I knew God had given me a precious gift to replace the one I had lost. When I paint everything else disappears. All worries and stress just melt away and I know I am completely where I am supposed to be.
I am a self-taught artist and always looking for new ways to grow and learn. I am enamored with the limitless possibilities when creating art. I am equally in love with creating beautiful landscapes as well as letting loose with color and texture in an expressive piece purely driven by emotion and music. I love the challenge of capturing the beauty and feel of a landscape. I enjoy the attention to detail and the focus it requires to bring the piece together. On the flip side, at times I need to break my restraints and allow my spirit to flow through a piece without the confines of rules.
I work primarily in acrylics. I incorporate strong strokes with the knife, gentle slides of the brush, or fingertips dancing across the canvas to bring the work to life. Whether it’s the ordered beauty of a landscape or the chaos of an abstract, both engage the human spirit.
I hope that others find the same sense of healing, peace, or excitement in my work.
