This painting was inspired by my visit to the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA. Actually, I am drawn to historical cemeteries, in general. I find comfort in the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings and in the memories and remembrances shared by loved ones for all to see and read.
After reviewing my photographs and sketches, I created this watercolor on handmade paper. I feel that the rough texture and aged white of the substrate helps convey the character of the place in time.
