- Medical Interpreters Team
This project was initially started back in 2019. Then COVID hit and it was put on hold. During this time, while the world was having to deal with this pandemic and its challenges and uncertainty, our team went through its own trials and tribulations, with many team members reevaluating their choices and deciding to fly in other directions seeking healing and growth.
We originally chose the Monarch butterflies as the theme for our department because they are representative of migrants and their incredible journey. Our Medical Interpreters Department is made up team members from Latin America, Spain, United Kingdom, and the USA. Each one of us has a unique story of what brought us here. As interpreters, we work in all areas of patient care in the hospital, where we have met many providers, each with their own journeys around the country and the world while pursuing their careers or providing health care. Through our language services, we serve a very rich and diverse community of families who have migrated from every corner of the world. When a new diagnosis or a tragic accident brings them here to CHCO, this is where we all meet. Every day within the walls of this hospital, we bear witness to their stories of adversity and resiliency. Each one of them a survivor.
These butterflies represent the survivors that exist in all of us. It is within our nature to fight against the odds and retain our inner beauty through life's challenges; beating our wings and looking for warmer climates to replenish our souls.
