On average children take approximately 29,000 breaths a day. Imagine if each breath was a struggle! For many children breathing is not easy or effortless.
We chose the pinwheel as a representative of those simple moments that we often take for granted – the act of blowing breath. In the Breathing Institute, we are dedicated to the treatment of patients with conditions such as asthma, chronic cough, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension and vascular disease, airway lesions, apnea and sleep-disordered breathing , interstitial lung disease, noisy breathing, exercise intolerance, chronic mechanical and on-invasive ventilation and post-transplant treatment in infants and children. We work closely with the patient and the family to provide life-long lung health.
A pinwheel is a symbol of childhood and can refer to a time when things were simple and natural. The pinwheel's bright colors convey optimism and vitality; in use it demonstrates the ready transformation from inertia (inactivity) to energy (vitality)1 – a perfect representation of our mission.
