Charlie Hunter
Bellows Falls, VT
Charlie Hunter is a cheerful guy who paints drippy portraits of decaying American infrastructure in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
MessageThis painting has the same basic armature of the railroad crossing gates as RAILROAD CROSSING, but the paint was applied very differently. We, as artists, are told that we should have a recognizable style if we want the big bucks, but I would get terrifically bored painting exactly the same way every day. One wonders if Andrew Wyeth ever got a hankering to bust loose with a paint roller, or Willem DeKooning ever secretly wanted to sit down and do some insanely detailed paintings of boats. Or ducks. Maybe they did, maybe they did.
