In summer 2012 my friend, the photographer Susan Mikula, and I traveled by private railroad car from Chicago to New York. We spent most of the trip sitting on the rear platform, agape at the magnificent world passing by. The beautiful and massive railroad bridge outside Chicago under which we passed shortly after departure burned itself into my memory.
