Ventus Convallis means wind of the valley. It was made for a private residence in Sonoma Valley. The first home on the property had been destroyed by the fires and the client wanted something to celebrate his return to his land and his newly built home. A piece designed like this can be vertically or horizontally. The client had this piece installed floating out from the wall by 1.5" so a shadow is cast on the wall. They opted to have a second piece made for another wall. The inspiration for this piece is wind. Within this piece a stone is contained by bamboo cross cut and sewn to give the visual appearance of bamboo stacked around the rock. The stone symbolizes the permanence of land, and the cross cut bamboo symbolizes the structures that are built around it by man.
