The inspiration for “Avis Unda” was a bird. In thinking about a bird I imagined and then created the outline of a bird as you might see it on the water, or nesting. The bird is also a landscape, its back becoming the crust of the earth, and a flower blooming from its center.
Frame of piece is made from hand bent and laminated bamboo, filled in with crosscut bamboo. Center flower is made using Patisserie De Verre glass fusing technique out of Bullseye glass frit. Woven rattan accents.
