Birds are an amazing and beautiful part of the natural world. The way they fly, communicate, and sleep. For both Avis Nox and Avis Sedis I explored the way a bird will twist its neck to hide its head while sleeping. Included in these works is a reference to the landscape, both the layers of earth, the sky, and the moon reflecting on the water. In this piece bamboo is stacked, like bricks, in a pattern around a fused glass piece with optical lenses and knotless netting. 36” x 20.5” x 7.75”
