After graduating from ECU with a BFA in textile design, I worked as designer, stylist and colorist in the home furnishings and apparel industries for twenty plus years. I was fortunate to be able to freelance for many of those years, while starting a family that resulted in two wonderful sons. Even though I loved design work, I needed more creative challenges and my focus shifted to studio painting where I fell in love with self-expression on canvas.
My goal as an artist is to explore the nuance of color and texture in all of my work ... to evoke emotion and feeling for the viewer... I paint rather loosely, mostly in the abstract, layering a mix of acrylic, pastel and glaze - while experimenting with a variety of methods and tools for added dimension and texture. My subject matter includes old barns, earthscapes, flora, fauna, and figurative works.
we are surrounded by color and the beauty of the earth . . .
we just have to remember to notice it . . .
