Statement
My paintings are responses to the interaction between several related polarities: organization versus chaos/randomness, simplicity versus complexity, and geometry versus free form.
I begin with a set of investigations, combining process and concept with personal visual language. I work to achieve a balance between ease and tension, geometry and transgression of form, and edge and fluidity of line.
My intention is to evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. Much of my personal expression in art deals with creating visual metaphors from connections I find between the physical world and our inner emotional world. I am fascinated by physics and the many parallels that can be drawn between these theories and our lives. I begin with a sense of search and discovery and strive to have my finished pieces achieve a certain Zen-like balance and harmony.
I try to embrace mistakes, surprises and the unexpected, which often become the heart of a piece.
