Full of energy and movement, this painting represents the awakening of my love for painting. In the early days of the 2020 pandemic, with plenty of totem sticks on hand and all the galleries closed, I wanted to try a new art medium. So I decided to paint.
I was taught early in my clay journey that if you want to learn to make something well, make a hundred of them. If it worked for mugs, plates, and bowls, I figured the same approach should work for painting. Every day I painted, taking classes on line from teachers whose work appealed to me in some way. It was a quest to find my voice in paint. I made tons of really bad paintings before this one made my heart leap for joy.
Created on 140 pound cold press watercolor paper, then mounted on a cradled wood panel. Multiple coats of non-yellowing, water resistant medium are applied to seal and protect the painting.
