Although the US Government did their best to eradicate the buffalo as a way to "tame" the American Indian, they survived and still roam the earth today. A medicine shield represents medicine personal to the warrior. They are constructed by stretching an animal hide over a wooden hoop. The brave's personal spirit animals and symbols will be painted on the hide and decorated with feathers and personal objects.
