  • About

Born in 2003 and raised in southern Georgia, Caroline discovered her passion for art at an early age. She attended Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia. Throughout middle and high school, she worked extensively in sculpture and ceramics, building a strong foundation in three-dimensional form and material exploration.

Her artistic direction shifted unexpectedly in high school. After seeing one of her teachers making jewelry in the studio, she asked if he could show her the basics. From that moment on, she became enamored with metalwork. She took her first jewelry class during her junior year and, under the guidance of her art teachers, Andy Cunningham and May Engelhardt, she discovered a deep connection to the craft. She graduated from Woodward Academy in 2022.

Although she comes from a family of doctors and siblings who are following or preparing to follow in their footsteps, Caroline chose to pursue her own creative path. With her parents' full support, she committed herself wholeheartedly to a life in the arts.

Caroline now attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, studying in the School of American Craft. She will graduate in Spring 2026 with a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, with a concentration in silversmithing. Through her work, she blends technical precision with expressive form, honoring traditional metalsmithing techniques while forging her own artistic voice.

Statement

I’ve tried different approaches to jewelry-making, but I always come back to wearable pieces that become part of someone’s everyday life. Lately, I’ve been focusing on religious jewelry, especially crosses, and exploring all the different ways they can be designed and interpreted.

My interest in crosses grew out of my senior capstone, which examines the feeling of being pushed away from religion because of negative or hurtful experiences, but eventually finding a way back. It’s about returning with all the confusion and mixed emotions still there. Making these pieces has helped me work through that tension and understand my own relationship with faith.
