Fibre Art Prints
Gallery quality Giclée fine art print of an ephemeral fibre artwork, printed on fine art paper.
The process used to create these Fibre Art Prints is not unlike that used to paint a conventional picture. Layers of colour are applied and then details carefully added. The difference being that my "paints" are wool and silk fibres and my hands are the brushes. Artworks are then captured and reproduced using the highest quality printing techniques and materials.
The depth of colour and dimension in these unique artworks makes them truly eye catching. The sheen of the silk fibres lends a truly three dimensional quality to each piece. The capture of this particular type of fibre art is unique to Caroline Burton, Fibre Artist.
Prints are supplied packaged flat, with a board support and protective sleeve within New Zealand. For overseas purchasers, prints are supplied rolled in a tube, with a protective acid-free tissue paper layer against the surface.
In the Land
“In the Land” seeks to draw the viewers mind to the resources created and concealed in the ground beneath our feet since the beginning of time. To become conscious of the elements used to make the everyday items that we take for granted and to then make the connection to one another.
Caretakers
I have long been fascinated with the vast landscape hidden in the ground beneath our feet. I am drawn to the places where these hidden secrets are revealed to us at the surface, imagining the mechanisms and events that formed them. Since the beginning of time, we have been motivated to find and utilise the resources and treasures hidden within.
This body of work is an exploration of our connection to place and how that connection influences the way that we inhabit the land. It is my belief that the world was created and resourced for us to enjoy and we have been charged as Caretakers. I’m interested in how we fulfil that role. There is a tension between mankind's innate creativity - which drives us to make ever increasing demands on resources - and our role as caretakers.
“Caretakers” seeks to explore this tension and pose the question; Where is the balance to be found?
Light Tubes
Fascinated by the interplay of light and fibres, I set about developing a range of elegantly proportioned light tubes. Each of these fibre artworks has been created as a seamless tube, slipped over an HIPS plastic tube support. The tube sits snug on a custom made laminated bamboo base, which has a cordset with inline switch fitted.
Please only use cool-touch LED light bulbs in these light tubes.
